History of Our Ministry
The
Church of God, Anderson, Indiana, movement began in 1881 with the purpose of
restoring unity and
holiness to the community of Christ followers. The aim of the movement was to bring a primary
allegiance to Jesus Christ, and by doing so to transcend denominations. Out of this
commitment to unity, the Church of God does not perform a ceremony to join the
church. When a person commits to Christ as their personal Lord and
Savior, they are at that moment a "member" of God's eternal family
and will remain so as long as they honor that commitment. The movement
has a long history of bridging the divides between believers of a wide range
of Christ-centered denominations.
The
work now known as SeaTac
Church of God was born in south Seattle in the late 1930's. It moved
to its current location in 1958 and was then named Bow Lake Church of God.
We are located one mile east of the SeaTac International Airport at
18435 - 42nd Avenue South. The original building (now the gymnasium) was built in 1958; the
present sanctuary and additional classrooms were added in 1973.
Our
facility now includes classrooms, a gymnasium, restrooms, well-equipped
institutional kitchen, an enclosed courtyard and office space for the
administration. Located outside
is a large fenced play area with playground equipment, a baseball field and
a smaller fenced yard for toddlers.
Our
SeaTac Christian Day Care has been serving the community since 1968.
It offers full day care, preschool teaching and before and after
school care for the academy and public school children.
The
congregation and staff at the SeaTac Church of God has a long history of
caring for the needs of the children in the community.
